Brighton’s largest landlord threatens to quit city
By Mike Ashworth | April 22, 2010
In a news story today, Brighton’s largest private landlord, has threatened to give up on the city after having it’s fifth attempt to build homes and a GP surgery turned down.
Downlands Housing Trust wished to build on the former Gala bingo site in Portland Road, and this was rejected, yet again, by Brighton and Hove Council.
It’s a bit odd really. Much better to let a building fall into disrepair and look an eyesore.
Yet broaden our view and we see that Sainsburys had no problems at all in opening a store in Portland Road.
Makes you wonder what goes on in planning meetings….
