When diets go wrong

Hollyoaks actress Mikyla Dodd has dealt with her own weighty demons by losing 11 stone, so she knows a thing or two about diets.

Here she takes a look at what can and does go wrong when people try diets that aren’t made up of eating healthily and taking regular exercise.

Mikyla takes a tour through a whole range of dieting disasters as she discovers the dangers of diet pills; talks to those whose diets gave them saggy skin and smelly sweat; and meets those whose extreme dieting put them under the knife, brought on seizures and made their life an addictive hell.

One of the maddest things is that the money spent on some of these crazy and potentially lethal diets could instead have been spent on a gym membership, personal trainer and good healthy food.

Crazier still is that some of the people she talks to said they’d try them again.

Here is a list of the side-effects encountered throughout the program.

Early onset of menopause, increase in blood pressure, poor circulartion resulting in potential removal of limbs, possibility of heart attack, irritable, sweaty, tired, mood swings / personality changes, smelly breath and sweat, oily farts and increased flatulence, hair loss, gall stone disease and subsequent removal of gall bladder, depression, anorexia, seizures, wasting away of heart muscle.

Remember losing weight is not a sprint but a marathon…….
