Restoring your faith in human nature

The world can appear to be a cynical place a lot of the time however a couple of stories recently highlighted that people exist who are selfless and serve others for no other reason than it’s the right thing to do.
A recent article by Liz Jones in the Daily Mail recounted her experiences of helping out at a shelter for the homeless around Christmas time. This is worthy in it’s own right, however I was delighted to read that a local posh country hotel had handed over the keys to 8 rooms, at no charge, so that the homeless could sleep in them.
Now I wonder how many Hotels would consider doing that?
In another story I read about a young mum whose Christmas presents for her sick baby were nicked when hearltess vandals trashed her house. She wrote about her experience on facebook and a group was created which 4,000 people joined.
This in itself isn’t much to talk about except in this case hundreds of people donated gifts including a TV, cot, bedding, high chair, £200 worth of toys and three bags of clothes. Others offered their time to help clean up the mess following the incident.
Both of the above stories prove that people exist who will help others in their time of need. Unfortunately, we don’t hear enough about these types of stories as they don’t sell newspapers!
