electricity outages in brighton and hove
By Mike Ashworth | December 4, 2009
You’ve probably heard stories about the impending doom that is the shortage of power in Britain which may result in managed powercuts.
Well it looks like that day is here already.
I heard this morning that in Brighton and Hove the areas of Tongdean / Valley Drive area already experience such cuts.
When I asked if these weren’t just random power cuts, I was told that they are managed outages, which last thirty minutes (almost to the second) to help alleviate the stress on the grid in our City. They had experienced one this morning.
I was also told that this partiocular area was chosen as it has a high concentration of elderly people who may not be heavily impacted in the morning by an outage.

And here I though that planned blackouts was only the invention of Eskom in South Africa. I suppose then this happens all around the world.
