No substitute for books

The kindle electronic book reader, from Amazon, looks like a great idea, however add a beach or poolside situation and you’ve got trouble. Something a normal paperback book can usually deal with very well.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great product and I’d like one just for all the business and reference books I have on the shelves.

However for certain reads i still think I’d prefer a physical book, here are just a handful of reasons (apart from the kindle not being a great idea on a beach or poolside)

1. You cant lend a kindle book to someone else….
2. Ever been fascinated by the books that people have on their shelves at home, I know I am. That’ll disappear much like it has with music (no more CD’s just an ipod sitting on the table).
3. Sure it might prevent more paper being used to produce books however many use recycled material these days.

Yesterday I spotted that someone has also created a parody video for the Kindle.
