Sharing your music where people are listening online
By Mike Ashworth | May 11, 2009
Many bands and musicians are accustomed to sharing their music via Myspace, Youtube etc and also making it available for sale via itunes and other outlets.
A lot of people are now seeking out and listening to music in other places such as online “social radio” websites. As well as listening to music they can also let others know about great songs songs they discover. Also, they will have music recommended to them based on music they have been listening to.
These are all very powerful ways of getting your music in front of people who could become a fan.
Here is a quick round up of the major websites that you need to be aware of. Click each one for a link to the website in question and how to get your music uploaded.
Blip.fm
First, create an account (or log in if you already have one), then click the “Settings” link in the top right corner and click “Music” (link: http://blip.fm/settings/music). From there you can enter in as many urls to songs as you would like and we’ll save them for you and they will be accessible from our search.
NOTE: It’s a good idea to make sure the ID3 tags of your tunes are in order.
If this all looks like too much hard work their are aggregator services which will take your music and do all this on your behalf however they do charge for this.

Hiya Mike!
Super useful stuff - I knew about Spotify and am eternally grateful as my singing students are benefitting every day! I’m off to check out the others now too… Thanks for this!
