An interesting marketing idea for bands and musicians
By Mike Ashworth | May 16, 2009
A mate of mine runs a Health and Fitness based Business and from time to time he creates short videos (3-4 minutes say) for promotional purposes that are circulated around the net (youtube etc) and also on his website.
Recently he has been using some very commercial urban, hip-hop, R n B music as the soundtrack however this is fraught with problems, eventually the music will get removed from the youtube video etc.
So, here is my thinking, if you are a band that plays any kind of music that would work well with these types of videos (uptempo dance/rock etc) do the following.
- Identify your local gym’s, personal fitness instructors etc.
- Contact them and let them know that if they wanted to use your music as the soundtrack to any short internet videos they create themselves you’d be well up for it. Perhaps they could also play your music in their gym?
Of course, on your part, this does require you to understand the following.
It is better to have 10,000 ppl who know about you and your music with 1,000 of them buying it, than only 1,000 people who know you and buy your music”
It is of paramount importance in the world of music 2.0 because this is where the opportunities lie.
The more people who become aware of your music the more money you will eventually make. Simple really.
